Shaykh ‘Arafāt ibn Ḥasan:
Now the people of innovation, from the Qutbiyyah and Ḥaddādiyyah, have come and accused Shaykh al-Albānī of having Irjā'. But Shaykh al-Albānī was among the fiercest opponents of Irjā'! And Shaykh al-Albānī was among the fiercest in fighting against innovations! He authored the book "taḥdhīr as-sājid" fifty years ago, warning against shirk (polytheism), superstitions, and innovations. Some of these Ḥaddādiyyah individuals were not even born yet at that time!
When Shaykh al-Albānī addressed Murji'atul-Fuqahā' (the Murji'ah of the jurists), he said: "The disagreement between us and you is REAL. You say actions are not part of īmān (faith), but we, the people of Sunnah, say actions are part of īmān." So how can he be labeled a Murji'?! He says, "Īmān increases and decreases. Īmān consists of speech, action, and belief." And yet, they still call him a Murji'? They wanted nothing but to attack the Salafī da‘wah, following the method of the Jews: strike the head of the ideology, and the entire ideology, sect, or methodology will fall. This is what they are doing today with their attacks on Shaykh Rabī‘. They say, "Rabī‘ is a Murji', he has Irjā'." Lies!! By Allāh, I do not know anyone, based on my reading and listening, who fights Irjā', innovations, and sins like Shaykh al-Albānī and Shaykh Rabī‘, to the extent that some accuse them of being too strict.
When Shaykh Rabī‘ stated that the one who abandons prayer is not a disbeliever, they said, "You are a Murji'." So these people are going against the consensus of the Salaf regarding the [abandonment of] prayer. The consensus of the Salaf is that this issue is disputed, with two opinions: one says the person is a disbeliever, and the other says he is not. As for the issue of execution (by the ruler), Abū Ḥanīfah disagreed, saying, "He should be imprisoned, not executed." Even though Abū Ḥanīfah was from the Murji'ah of the jurists, he said that the one who abandons prayer should be imprisoned. Until when? He said until he prays, and if he doesn't pray, he remains in prison.
They keep going on and on about this matter, but the real goal is to attack the scholars and undermine the people of Sunnah.
