Al-haafith Ad-Diyaa’ said concerning Ibrahim Ibn ‘Abdil-Wahid Al-Maqdisi: He advised me at the time I travelled [for seeking knowledge]


“Increase in recitation of the Quran and do not leave it. For indeed whatever you seek will be facilitated for you proportionate to what you recite.”


Al-haafith Ad-Diyaa’ then said:


I saw that and experienced it many times. If I recited a lot, then listening to hadith and writing a great deal of it down would become easy. When I didn’t recite, that wouldn’t become easy for me.


The Meaning of Ibaadah


Worship ( العبادة) is defined as:


A comprehensive term that incorporates everything that Allaah loves and is pleased with from the statements and actions, both inward and outward.


Thus, worship is of many different types, and they are mentioned in the Qur'an. And when something is declared to be worship, then it is not permissible for it to be directed to other than Allaah, and such worship occurs either in the heart, upon the tongue or through the limbs, all the forms and types of worship fall into any of these three categories.


The greatest of the types of worship is du'a ( الدعاء), "invocation, supplication", and invocation is such that it is accompanied by other forms and types of worship, especially those of the heart, such as love, hope, aspiration, reliance, humility and the likes, and the reality of du'a is such that these other…

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ibraaheem rahimahullah said:

With regard to hair, the Prophet’s guidance is either to leave it all alone or to remove all of it. He did not shave part of it and leave part of it.

What some Muslims do, which is to shave part of the head and leave part, is the qaza’ (tuft) which was forbidden by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This may take several forms:
